How To Save Money On Small Bedside Cot

A Small Bedside Cot That Attaches to Your Adult Bed

If you're looking to keep baby as close as possible to him at night, without having to get out of the bed, a crib that is placed beside your bed is the perfect solution. The fabric is breathable, which means you can easily see baby and they're incredibly easy to lower for those bleary-eyed 3am feeds.

Some double as a moses's basket.

What is a bedside cot?

A bedside crib, also referred as a bassinet or co-sleeper is a crib for babies that is attached to your adult bed. This allows your newborn to sleep right next to you in a safe environment. It is a safe method of co-sleeping and doesn't increase your risk of SIDS as bedsharing does. It also helps you bond with your new baby.

The cots usually have a side that can be lowered, so you can easily reach your baby during the night for feeding and comforting. This is especially useful for mothers recovering from a c-section. Many are portable or foldable so you can use them for travel and as an interim solution for infants who aren't quite ready to be able to transition to a larger crib.

Choose a crib that has an air-conditioned mattress, as well as an extra-safe cover that will keep your baby safe from stains. You should also purchase baby-safe accessories such as a blanket, a teether and a soft toy.

If you are seeking a long-term solution, some cribs come with conversion kits that let you convert them into a toddler bed or cot when the time is appropriate. This is a great way to extend their life and making the transition easier. Some models have a removable portion at the top that can be turned into the bassinet. Other models can be used with either an adult bed that is standard or a high-rise one. This is a great option for families that plan on frequently traveling or transferring between bedrooms throughout the night. Be aware of the size of your bedroom to make sure you can fit in the crib comfortably. Many cribs come with a riser which can be used to create an incline for babies with reflux.

It can also assist with digestive issues such as reflux and colic.

The crib can also be fixed to the side of the bed with a strap and clip attachment. This makes it stable and secure, allowing you to get a good night's rest without worrying about your child falling off into the middle of the room. The premium airflow mattresses offer a comfortable sleeping surface, and ventilation panels help keep your baby cool. Anna found the CoZee to provide a safe, comfortable place to sleep for her infant. She loved the fact that it didn't roll like other models, meaning it wasn't waking her at night when she was trying to soothe her baby during feedings. She also liked that the sides of the chair lowered so she didn't need to reach over her partner in order to lift the child for nighttime feedings.

The CoZee is available in charcoal and oak and is a chic addition to the bedroom. It's more stylish than other cribs we've tried and are typically utilitarian. It's also fairly light at just 11kg, and comes with a carry bag so you can take it away on holidays or if moving your home. You only need to purchase an extra waterproof sheet and safety strap to sleep with your partner. The instructions and pictures are simple to follow when you first open the box.

The Maxi-Cosi lora

The Iora is a bedside bassinet that allows parents to feel more connected to their child while they sleep. It can be adjusted both up and down and moved to three different slide positions, to be placed beside the bed of the parent or in the corner, so the baby is always within reach. The mesh siding is breathable, allowing air to flow through, and allows you to glance at your little one. You can also store additional pajamas or other items in the large basket underneath.

As opposed to other bedside cribs Iora is a standout among other bedside cribs. Iora can be folded flat and comes with a travel bag which allows it to be taken wherever. Our mom testers found it easy to move from room to room and felt it was a great size for a small bedside cot that was not too big or too small. The large storage basket is perfect to store extra bedding or nappies.

This is a great choice for parents who want to sleep in a co-sleeping bed but don't want to share their bed. Or if one of the parents has mobility issues such as arthritis or back pain. Our mom testers love the ease with which they can access their baby in the Iora and that it has an option to tilt the bed upwards to help alleviate gas.

Our mums are thrilled that the mattress adheres to NICE guidelines. These include placing an infant in a Moses basket or crib on its own, without toys, blankets and pillows. They also state that the mattress is firm and comfortable for baby and is easy to find sheets for. It's not as light as the other smaller cribs on our list, so if you prefer something lighter and easier for you to move, choose another option.
